Farewell

Norton Albion Farewell
15 April 1989

We held a ‘Norton Albion Farewell Event’ at William Newton to celebrate and bring to a close almost a quarter of a century of Norton Albion Football Club. This was held a year after Norton Albion’s final game on 18 April 1988 against Preston Sports Club. In some ways this was more like a reunion and effectively extended the life of the Club into another year. All the players that had played over the years were invited to play in one last competition against each other with teams from the sixties, seventies and eighties. This was followed-up with a social evening at the Brown Jug Public House in Norton. On reflection this was a good way of drawing to a close what had been a source of pleasure for many people over many years.

All the people pictured above were playing in the 1960’s (except Keith Delderfield who played in 1970’s) and twenty-five years on managed to turn out again for a grand finale.
